Very poetic title, I know. The problem with writing nine books in the same genre is that, invariably, some overlap will occur. Sometimes, when I write a description or a bit of dialogue, the strangest sense of déjà vu sweeps over me. Did I write a line like that before? That feels oddly familiar. I probably should check other books to make sure I didn't already write that. And, of course, I did already write that. Granted, not all nine of my YA Romance books will see the light of day. Some of them are beyond redemption. Some, like my very first, need total rewrites. So I actually have scavenged plotlines, dialogue, and descriptions from the YA Romance books I don't like. However, this makes me feel a bit lazy and unskilled, like I can't actually invent; I can only recycle. Ugh. I guess I should be thankful it forces me to stretch my creative muscles, but sometimes I long for the days when I only had three complete YA Romance novels under my belt. 2019 was a good year.
